Hull: 1972 Lauterbach
"Midnight Miss was
built in 1972 by Henry Lauterbach, named "Scorpio". It
was powered by a big block Chev, and was driven by Tony Piazza and
won the
USA
National Championship in 1973.
In 1978 it was sold and renamed "Crazy Horse". Then in
1985, Peter Knight bought her and imported it into
New Zealand
. In 1990 Gina Campbell, (daughter of sir Donald Campbell "Bluebird")
drove it with a supercharged big block, and set a new world speed
record for women, at 162 MPH.

5litre 308 cu.in Holden V8 and 253 cu.in 4. 6 litre )
( Holden engines are similar to Chev but are Australian designed and

"The Spook is a Ted Jones design and was built in
1960 by Graham Troy. It is powered by a Holden 308.

SWAP and WASP

Class: Was
3.75 litre using Nissan 6 cylinder engines But I believe these
engines are V8 Toyota
Hulls: These hulls are both very
interesting and have been restored very well indeed.
"Wasp is a 17' Jones design
conventional Hydroplane. It is 17' long and was built in June
1966. Wasp races in the Under 4.6 litre / Classic Hydroplane
Class.
Swap was built for
legendary Sydney Hydroplane Club Commodore Jack Williams and was
named after Mr Williams wife "Kaarina" It still holds the
NSW 2.75 litre speed record of 106 mph set in 1977 at Windsor, NSW.
The boat is a 17' long Jones Design hydro, built by Graham Howard.
Swap races in the Under 4.6 litre / Classic Hydroplane Class."
