Marc Théorêt
enters the Grand Prix class
|
It’s been
in the air for awhile, but it’s now official: Marc Théorêt,
the 2009 2.5 litre champion will be behind the wheel of the Grand
Prix Valleyfield GP-444 in 2010.
|
 |
 |
Marc Théorêt
will be in the seat that was left open after Claude Bergeron’s
retirement. Bergeron was driving Grand Prix Valleyfield GP-444
since 2006. Claude won the GP final in Valleyfield in 2009, and
also at his final race in Beauharnois, QC. Bergeron
said “It’s my way to thank my fans for their support during my
entire racing career.” |
| Marc Théorêt
and his father Robert, who is Grand Prix Champion numerous times
at the wheel of the Lauterbach Grand Prix Valleyfield GP-444, will
be partners in this new venture. Robert Théorêt will be back
working in the pit after being a spectator for the last fifteen
years. He will be the mentor of a dynamic and experienced team,
and he hopes to be able to guide his son to victory in the
prestigious Grand Prix class.

Already
a Champion
| Driving in the
2.5 litre class since 2007, Marc Théorêt was dominant in the
Canadian and American circuit in 2009 aboard the Miss Virgo
(CS-444) a name already associated to his father in the 70’s.
Marc showed his talent as a driver and went onto win the 2009
Championship in the 2.5 litre class. In 2010, Marc will live a
life-long dream: compete in the Grand Prix class, just like his
father did in the 80’s--and he hopes to be just as successful!
The best thing is that he will have the opportunity to do it in a
prestigious boat named Grand Prix Valleyfield GP-444.
|
 |
With only 3
seasons of racing behind him, Marc will be stepping up into one of
the most powerful and competitive hydroplane classes in the world.
With over 1,200 horsepower, and with a hydroplane name made famous
by his own father, Marc will feel some pressure--but it will also
be a source of motivation for him and his teammates.
|
| With the addition
of Marc Théorêt, along with the possibility of additional teams
coming on board in 2010, things are really looking good for ACHA
Grand Prix in 2010.

Long Gone
GP-7 team updates
The GP-7
Long Gone is currently at Henderson Hydroplanes in
Brockville, Ontario and the repairs are nearly
complete, the boat required a new left sponson and
deck, canopy lid, repairs to the back cowling, and
right afterplane. Jimmy Shane is now in good
health after returning home his local doctor put him
on antibiotics and an inhaler to help clear up his
lungs. The engine has been repaired and part of the
team will be heading up to Canada this weekend to
finish up repairs to the boat and install the
engine. The boat will be ready and will compete in
the 71st Valleyfield Regatta. The team
appreciates all the help from everyone that
pitched in at the Syracuse Regatta in getting
the boat back on the trailer and working
on the engine. The team wishes Pierre
Maheu a speedy recovery and we look forward to
being able to race with him in the near
future.
