Les Régates de Valleyfield nous ont encore une fois
permis de vivre un week-end de courses extraordinaires. La température était de la
partie avec un soleil radieux et des vents relativement calmes sauf pour le samedi
après-midi où les courses ont dù être arrêtées vers 15h30.
Les coureurs ont aussi donné un grand spectacle avec de beaux duels dans la plupart des
courses. Ma seule déception est le nombre de bateaux américains présents, rappelons que
c'était les Championnats Nationaux Américains. Je crois personnellement que c'est une
question de politique; " Nos nationaux américains courus au Canada..."
J'ai discuté lors du week-end avec plusieurs pilotes ou membres d'équipes américaines
et ils avaient tous une raison pour expliquer l'absence de leurs confrères mais on
pouvait sentir qu'il ne voulait pas trop en dire. Cessons de faire de la politique et
aidons ce sport qui en a vraiment besoin par les temps qui courent.
Je tiens à remercier tous les gens
que j'ai rencontré lors de ce week-end. Les gens ont été vraiment sympathique
avec moi, Joan et les enfants et j'ai vraiment senti que le travail que je fais est
grandement apprécié. Merci à tous et à la prochaine.

The Valleyfield Regatta's gave us an
other great racing weekend. The weather was great all 3 days with sun and low wind except
for Saturday afternoon where racing was stopped at 3:30 because of high winds.
Racers gave us a great show with deck to deck racing in most heats.
My only disapointment was the absence of a lot of American boats for their own
Nationals.
I hope I am wrong but I thing it's seem like a political situation: " Our US
Nationals held in Canada..." I talked with racers from the states during the
weekend and they had good reason to explain the absence of those teams but it was obvious
that there was something àmore. Please stop making politics and lets go racing to help
this sport who really needs it.
Anyway guys I think that everyone who was there will tell you that you missed a great
weekend and that you should try to come next year.
I want to thank all the people I met
during that weekend. Everyone was very kind with me, Joan and the kids and you really made
me feel that my work was important and appreciated. It gives me a boost to work harder.
